Telegram is a popular messaging app that offers features not found on WhatsApp and other rival apps. Here are some tips and tricks to help you use it more effectively.
1. Save Messages
When you receive a message you want to keep (such as an important address or a family photo), just long-press on the message and select Forward and Saved Messages. You’ll find these saved messages in a dedicated folder at the top of your contacts list, and they’re fully searchable if you need to access them again. Plus, they’re synchronized across all your devices with Telegram installed.
2. Organize your chats
It can be hard to keep track of all the different conversations you’re involved in on Telegram, especially if you’re using it for multiple purposes and talking to a large number of people. To make things easier, you can create folders within your chats to categorize conversations for easy reference. You can also pin a specific conversation to the top of your contacts list, which makes it super easy to find later on.
3. React with reactions
Similar to Slack, Telegram lets you react to a specific part of a message or a video by sending an emoji that pops up on top of your screen. It’s a neat way to add a personal touch to your communications, and it can be particularly useful in group chats where you don’t want to flood the feed with unnecessary notifications.
4. Hide last seen
Similar to what you can do with WhatsApp, you can hide your last seen on Telegram so that only people you want to see your status can see it. This is great if you don’t want to let everyone in your life know when you’re active on Telegram, but it’s not foolproof and people who are very curious will still be able to see your status from time to time.
5. Hide your location
If you don’t want to let people in your chat know where you are, you can hide your location on Telegram by tapping the menu and selecting Settings > Privacy. From here, you can choose whether to share your location with everyone in your chats or just specific groups.
6. Use a GIF creator
With the latest update, Telegram introduced a new GIF-making feature that’s pretty nifty. You can either create a GIF from a video clip in a chat or add a timestamp to the video to select just one frame you want to turn into a GIF. The only downside is that videos created this way won’t play on other platforms, like Instagram or Facebook. There are more features to be learned on 电报购买频道.
7. Mute chats
If there’s a particular chat that’s distracting you from getting work done, or you just need a break from notifications, you can mute it by swiping left on the chat and selecting the mute option. You can even mute it until a specified date and time.
8. Use the app’s map button
In addition to its standard image and video editing tools, Telegram includes a small map feature that lets you show your location to other users in your chats by pressing on the compass icon. It’s handy if you’re in a group chat and want to quickly share your exact location with all the other participants, or if you’re planning to meet up in real life and need some direction.
